Judging Criteria
head judge: Rick Raduziner

There will be three judges for each discipline

Qualifying run scoring:

competitors will be scored by each judge on the provided score cards.
Each competitor receives one solo qualification run and will be scored based on 5 areas

Technique              0         1          6          8

Line                            1          2          3          4

Fuidity                       1          2          3          4

Control                      1          2          3          4

Overall Impress       0          1          4          5

You will notice a heavier weighting placed on Technique! The winners of this competition should be the best skier and rider in the comp. THIS IS NOT A HUCKFEST! As well your “overall impression” score should reflect this as well

Technique - how accurately the competitor shapes their turns and transitions from turn to turn.

Line - most aggressive, smoothest, creative line down the course

STAKE YOUR CLAIM
FREERIDE COMPETITON

Welcome to the second annual Alaskan Brewing Co. “Stake Your Judging criteria
Claim” Freeride competiton. This comp will challenge your skiing and riding skills with the winners being the competitors who demonstrate the strongest skiing and riding skills.   This means competitors will be scored weighted heavily on good technique rather than best air! example: a competitor who traverses from air to air or exhibits poor skiing technique with skidding, rotation, tail wagging, or traversing will score lower than a competitor who links fluid strong turns with occaisional airs landing into a controlled turn. Speed is scored highly if it is controlled strong skiing or riding.

Finalists will qualify through an individual run scored by the judges with the top scores advancing to the dual head to head final rounds.   In the final elimination rounds athletes will be given red or black bibs and the winner of the head to head run will be determined by best two out of three judges scores indicated by the raising of a RED or BLACK placard. The winner of each round will advance until we have our top four who will go head to head to determine 1st thru 4th place.

Awards

Awards will be presented to the Top 3 finishers in each division:

Mens SKI, Womens SKI, Mens SNOWBOARD, Womens SNOWBOARD

In addi tion there wil be the following OVERALL winners:

Note: Should a woman score amongst the qualifying men’s scores in the preliminaries, she will be seeded with the men’s final and have a chance to win the overall championship package. Any woman seed with the men will place in the final women’s scoring above the winners in the women’s only division. So if a woman wins the women’s division but there was another girl who qualified higher and made the overall eliminations with the men, she will be determined the winner of the women’s division and the women left in the women’s division will be competing for the remainder of the positions.
