Local Youth Programs

Youth Programs (formerly called School Programs) offer affordable multi-session lessons and are available to all local children. Residents of the Truckee Meadows have the unique opportunity to take advantage of their proximity to world-class winter recreation. Mt. Rose – Ski Tahoe is offering ski and snowboard development programs for elementary age children, in a controlled learning environment, with safety as our highest priority.

Our Youth Programs have a tremendous success rate, with the key element being continuity. The students learn from the same instructor throughout the lesson block, enabling them to build a positive and trustworthy relationship. Class sizes are small, allowing for individualized instruction & rapid progression of skill development. Year to year many students return to further their abilities; in fact, many graduates of past school programs are now part of our qualified instructor team.

NEW WEEKEND PROGRAMS

weekend program: 7-lesson Rippers

Ages 8-12

Duration: 7 weeks- participants will be included in 7 days of ski or snowboard lessons.

Days: Saturdays or Sundays (pick a day)

Program Start Date: SATURDAY Jan 21 & SUNDAY Jan 22
Program End Date:   SATURDAY Mar 10 & SUNDAY Mar 11

Program does not operate on Presidents Weekend  (Feb 18 & 19)

Lesson Times:  12:00 - 2:00pm (2-hours)

Lessons start promptly at 12:00.   Students are expected to be dressed and ready to GO at the meeting area by 11:50.

Pricing: $175 - includes all-day lift ticket and a 2-hr lesson  
$245 - includes all-day lift ticket, rental equipment* (skis, boots & poles or snowboard & snowboard boots) and a 2-hr lesson

4-lesson Rosebuds weekend program

Ages 4-10

Duration: 4 weeks- participants will be included in 4 days of ski or snowboard lessons.

Days: Saturdays or Sundays (pick a day)

MIDWEEK PROGRAMS

5-lesson Rosebuds midweek program

Ages 4-10

Duration: 5 weeks- participants will be included in 5 days of ski or snowboard lessons.

Days: Friday mornings (10am-12pm), Wednesday afternoons (1pm-3pm), or Friday afternoons (1pm-3pm) Must pick a day/time.

Parent/Driver Lift Ticket Discount

For those bringing their child up to Mt. Rose! Only one lift ticket per child in the program.

School Program FAQs

• What if my child misses a lesson day?  Can they make it up? 

If your child misses a scheduled lesson day,  they will be able to make it up any Saturday or Sunday (non holidays) after their scheduled session has completed.

• What if they get injured – are there any refunds? 

Yes, we will offer a credit for those days missed with confirmation of the injury.

• How many kids are in a class? 

Rosebud classes generally average 6-7 kids per instructor while the Ripper classes could be slightly higher.

• What if they already have a season pass?  Is there a discount?


No. The program prices are deeply discounted so no further discounts would apply.
